Identifying and Introducing UMSHA's International Capacities

Hamadan University of Medical Sciences, with 20 active research centers and 4 research institutes approved by the Ministry of Health, is a leading research hub in Iran. In the Shanghai Ranking, UMSHA is ranked 200-300 globally in Clinical Medicine and 300-400 in Public Health, making it one of only 20 Iranian universities featured in this prestigious ranking. Notable capacities include:

  • Avicenna Health Research Institute: UMSHA is the second medical university in Iran to receive a license to establish a research institute.
  • Pivotal National Projects: Leading major national projects such as the "National Addiction Project," "National Suicide Project," "Autism Screening Project," and "National Project for Monitoring Arsenic and Heavy Metals in Water Resources."
  • Technological Achievements: According to the latest evaluation by the Ministry of Health, UMSHA ranks first among Type 2 medical universities in Iran for technology development.

Developing Cooperation and Signing International Agreements

We are prepared to sign operational Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), prioritizing collaboration with leading universities and research centers in our key strengths:

  • Faculty and Researcher Exchange: Providing the legal and executive framework for short-term and long-term study opportunities.
  • Joint Research Projects: Focusing on areas of strength such as Environmental Health, Non-communicable Diseases, and Clinical Medicine.
  • Joint Educational Programs (Dual Degree and Joint Degree): Implementing these models as the most effective forms of international academic collaboration.

Monitoring and Evaluation of Agreements

The Office of Scientific and International Cooperation is committed to ensuring the implementation of signed MoUs through the establishment of an electronic monitoring system and by holding periodic meetings with all stakeholders.

Facilitating International Scientific Missions

The university, by prioritizing international affairs in its plans and activities, provides the necessary facilities for dispatching faculty members and staff on international scientific missions. The recruitment of faculty with an international profile (proficiency in English and experience in international scientific communities) is a key strategy.

Designing and Implementing International Educational Programs

To enhance the university's international standing, we announce our capability to design and implement diverse educational programs:

  • Joint Degree and Dual Degree Programs in high-demand fields.
  • Short-term courses, clinical residencies, and fellowships.
  • Virtual (E-learning) courses in English for international students.

Expanding the Admission of International Students

In line with the strategic goal of reasonably increasing the capacity for international student admission, we support academic departments in schools and affiliated hospitals. Actions include revising curricula based on international standards, translating them into English, and developing courses in English at graduate levels.

Providing Protocol Services and Visa Facilitation

The Office of Scientific and International Cooperation provides protocol services and necessary support for foreign guests invited to international conferences and workshops, as well as for visiting officials and dignitaries, and assists in their visa acquisition process.

Identifying and Attracting Grants and Research Opportunities

The university actively works to identify and secure international funding by joining international scientific networks and disseminating information about external scholarships and grants (e.g., UNESCO, ISESCO, DAAD).

Developing Monitoring Indicators and Employing New Technologies

The development of performance monitoring indicators is underway, based on international identifiers set by the Ministry of Health (e.g., number of international students, joint international publications, joint programs). Furthermore, the university leverages advanced technologies, such as the comprehensive research information management system ("Pajohiyar"), and holds workshops (e.g., on "Artificial Intelligence") to enhance the digital literacy of staff for international development.

Developing Effective Advertising Methods

To promote the university's international capabilities and achievements, the following strategies are employed:

  • Active participation in international higher education exhibitions (e.g., GETEX Dubai).
  • Continuous updating of the university's international website and publishing multilingual content (English, French, Arabic), including brochures, catalogs, and promotional videos.
  • Establishing and developing an "International Publication" unit to disseminate achievements in reputable international journals.
