Visit to International Students’ Dormitories at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences: A Detailed Look at Student Welfare

The Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs, along with the Vice-Chancellor for Student and Cultural Affairs, the Head of Support and Welfare Services from the Development Vice-Chancellery, and the Secretary of the National Accreditation and Educational Standards Development Working Group, conducted an inspection visit to the dormitories of international students at Shahid Mobasher Kashani (male dormitory) and Reihaneh 1 (female dormitory) to assess current conditions, review corrective measures, and evaluate welfare facilities. Following the visit, a direct dialogue session was held with students to listen to their concerns and suggestions firsthand.

This visit, aimed at fostering a more suitable living and academic environment for international students, took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, Farvardin 25, 1404 (April 14, 2024), with the participation of relevant officials. The inspection provided an opportunity to examine existing conditions and prioritize improvement initiatives closely.

During the visit, officials focused on critical details such as infrastructure maintenance, welfare equipment, and upgrading facilities at both dormitories. Each section was thoroughly evaluated, highlighting strengths and identifying areas requiring immediate attention to enhance quality standards.

After the on-site inspection, a meeting was held with international students from both dormitories. The session fostered an open atmosphere, allowing students to share their daily challenges, suggestions, and experiences directly with university officials.

During the dialogue, Dr. Hoseini Ahangari, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs, emphasized: “We, as officials, are committed to addressing students’ concerns. International students hold the same value and respect as Iranian students; their issues are ours.” This statement underscored the university’s fundamental commitment to resolving shared student challenges.

Dr. Asghari, Vice-Chancellor for Student and Cultural Affairs, added: “We are dedicating all efforts to improve service quality for students and aim to utilize existing capacities to their fullest potential in delivering these services.”

In conclusion, following the review of issues raised during the visit, it was decided that dormitory officials would compile a comprehensive written report detailing all concerns to ensure systematic follow-up. This decision aligns with establishing a clear pathway for addressing challenges faced by international students, with the expectation that this approach will enhance dormitory conditions and welfare services efficiently.
